Anime Expo 2016: Post-Con Thoughts

Hey everyone, I’m back with another convention post as I just got done with Anime Expo 2016, certainly the biggest convention I’ve ever been to and also the biggest anime convention in North America. It was quite a few months in the making, giving that I was traveling across the US from VA to CA and the cost was nothing to scoff at either but the whole thing went off well enough, as far as getting to the con and getting back safely after the con was over. Of course, though, there were a few things I got to do and I suppose the easiest way to do it will be to go day by day.

Character Focus: Satone Shichimiya

WARNING: THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR BOTH SEASONS OF THE SHOW LOVE, CHUNIBYO, & OTHER DELUSIONS.

Hey everyone, I’m back again with another Character Focus article. It’s been a while in the making, as I’ve been a little stuck on who next to focus on. There are some options that I would like to revisit the shows for, but then again some of the shows are very long… anyway, today I thought I’d go for a bit of an off-kilter pick, for reasons I’ll explain later in the article. Today’s is about Satone Shichimiya, from Chūnibyō demo Koi ga Shitai Season 2 (Or, as it’s known in the US: Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions). So let me get into the reasons as to why I want to write about her.

When Marnie Was There: Some Thoughts

WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE “WHEN MARNIE WAS THERE”

Hey everyone, back again with some thoughts on the movie When Marnie Was There, by Studio Ghibli. I was publishing Character Focus articles every other week or so but I slipped up last week and I’ve been racking my brain on who I want to do my next one on. I haven’t quite figured it out and I’m not sure I necessarily want to do one on this movie but I did have some thoughts on this movie itself that I figured I might share for my own sake as well as those who were interested in reading.

Character Focus: Jun Naruse

WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR ANTHEM OF THE HEART

Hey everyone, back again with another Character Focus article. This one comes courtesy of me having finally watching Anthem of the Heart as of last week. I actually really enjoyed some of the characters in ef: A Tale of Memories, but as I’ve written about that in a previous post I thought I’d give the floor to this movie. If you didn’t know, Anthem of the Heart comes to us from the same team who created Anohana, including writer Mari Okada who has quite a long list of anime to her own name (including Toradora which if you’ve seen my previous post on the show or panel, you’d know I’m a big fan of). So I was very excited to watch this movie. But this is about Jun, specifically, so let’s get into that.

ef: A Tale of Memories – Some Thoughts

For a long time I wanted to watch ef; I had put it off for quite a while for honestly no good reason. I remember watching the first episode a few years ago and just not continuing it. There was no real reason. I honestly DID want to watch the show and knew it would most likely appeal to me. But until a few days ago I just hadn’t gotten around to it. And when I DID get around to it, boy did I ever. I watched all of it in just a few short days which usually doesn’t happen for me; it’s usually that I make myself watch one episode a night. Sometimes it’s harder to watched already aired shows, you know?

Character Focus: Kumiko Oumae & Reina Kousaka

THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR SEASON 1 OF HIBIKE! EUPHONIUM

Hey everyone, I’m back again with another Character Focus article. And no, there is no typo or mistake up there this time. For Euphonium, I’m definitely going to be talking about both Kumiko and Reina. There’s reasons I have for doing as such, and since I think it would be impossible for me to choose just one of them to focus on one, I am going to include both of them. I promise to avoid the talk of “yuri baiting” or any speculation on their relationship for the time being (until season 2, at least).

Sugar, Spice, and P-239s: Gunslinger Girl’s Characters

WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR SEASON 1 OF GUNSLINGER GIRL.

So this is an article I’ve been wanting to write for a while mostly because for like the last… 10 years I’ve wanted to rewatch Gunslinger Girl. More on that in a second. Another reason I wanted to get to this show/article is because I truly believed the characters were well developed throughout the course of the series and the rewatch confirmed that for me. Note that this is going to focus majorly on the first season; I haven’t seen the second one and I do not have many plans to. I’ve already been spoiled on some manga endings, so I might or might not read that in the future. But season 1 has plenty to focus on for the time being.
